For now in France, Intellectual Property Laws aren't really enforced, like in many countries. However, the French Government is working on a new law's proposition: The Hadopi Law
Hadopi: Haute Autorité pour la Diffusion des Oeuvres et la Protection des droits sur Internet
alias, in english, High authorities for medias' broadcasting and internet's rights protection
[En]: I've to make a windows update... Can I ???
If you're an english speaker and want to know more about this law, i strongly advice you to read these document attached. You'd have some difficulties to find another place where this law is that easily understandable. It may be tomorrow's policy around the world. Be aware.

On April 7th 2009, only 16 members of the national assembly out of 577 were present to vote the law. Consequently, the vote was reported at the end of May 2009.
Last News: On May 12th, 2009, the French Senate adopted the Hadopi Law. France will be the first country to experiment these kind of actions against intellectual property infringements. Will it be soon global around the world?
